About Behold & Be Held
This House Was Built Slowly
Behold & Be Held did not begin with a website. It began quietly.
In Scripture opened again and again. In prayers whispered to God. In questions carried through suffering. In truths written down because I needed to remember them. In words offered to encourage someone whose heart was weary. In a growing desire to know God — not merely know about Him, but increasingly treasure Him for who He is.
And over time, something beautiful began to emerge. What had seemed like separate longings were not separate after all. The desire to behold God more clearly. The longing to rest more deeply in His character and care. The conviction to live this brief life for what will matter eternally. The ache to encourage discouraged hearts. The call to love generously and make room for those whom the world too easily overlooks.
They were all flowing from the same place. They were the outworking of a heart being drawn, again and again, toward God Himself.
Behold & Be Held is the house those threads eventually built.
Hello, friend. I’m Angelique.
The Heart Behind the House

I am a wife, mother, writer, encourager, and founder of Heart In Heaven and creator of Seismic Generosity. But beneath every role and before every work, I am a woman who belongs to Jesus Christ—and I am captivated by Him.
I am still learning the inexhaustible wonder of who God is.
I have not arrived here by mastering trust, nor by being spared the seasons that tested it, but by being brought again and again to the God who is trustworthy.
Quite the opposite. Life has given me enough miles to learn that circumstances make poor foundations.
There have been seasons of deep joy and seasons of profound grief. Seasons when God’s hand seemed wonderfully visible and others when His purposes were hidden from view. Times when I believed what Scripture said about Him while discovering that some places in my heart were still learning how fully to rest their weight there.
The Godward turn
A Greater Sight of God
Again and again, God has brought me back to Himself. To His holiness. His sovereignty. His wisdom. His goodness. His faithfulness.
And I am increasingly convinced that one of the greatest needs of the Christian heart is not simply more information about how to navigate life. We need a greater sight of God.
Because when God becomes weightier to us, everything else begins to find its proper weight.
Behold
Look Again. Look at Him.
Years ago, a simple desire began taking deeper root in me: Treasure God. Not merely serve Him. Not merely believe true things about Him. Not merely obey Him while the affections remain elsewhere. But adore Him. Cherish Him. Seek Him. Trust Him. Delight in Him. Value Him above every lesser treasure.
The more I encountered God in His Word, the more I wanted my inner life to be shaped by the reality of who He actually is. That longing eventually found expression in many places — in prayers, reflections, writings, The ABCs of Treasuring God, and later in Trustworthy. But beneath all of them was the same invitation: Look again. Look beyond the noise. Beyond circumstances. Beyond our assumptions. Beyond the distorted measures of this world. Look at Him.
Because beholding God is not merely where this house begins. Everything here takes its bearings from Jesus Christ—His worth, His character, His words, His ways. The aim is simple: to turn our gaze toward Him and let the heart increasingly live in response to who He is.
Be Held
The God We Behold Draws Us Near
Yet another discovery followed. The God we behold is not asking His children to admire Him from a distance. He draws us near. The sovereign God is also Father. The holy God is also refuge. The God who holds galaxies in their courses also holds His children with perfect attention and care.
And still, there can be a distance between knowing that truth and resting in it. I know that distance. Perhaps you do too. We may sincerely believe God is trustworthy and still feel afraid. We may affirm His sovereignty while struggling with uncertainty. We may know He is good while carrying questions we cannot answer. We may love Him deeply while discovering places within us that still reach instinctively for control, explanation, or self-reliance.
Be Held was born for that space. Not to shame the struggling heart. Not to offer easy answers for sacred questions. But to keep returning together to the One who can actually bear the full weight of a human life.
Here, we are learning that rooted trust does not mean the absence of fear or pain. It means the heart is learning where its weight can rest.
Live Wholly
Beholding God Was Never Meant to Leave Us Unchanged
What we treasure shapes how we live. When God becomes more precious, the world’s glitter begins losing some of its shine. Time looks different. Money looks different. Success looks different. Suffering looks different. People look different. Eternity comes nearer.
And gradually, the question shifts from: What do I want from my life? to: Lord, what would You have this life become?
That question has profoundly altered mine. It helped give birth to Living Backward, a call to view this present life through the lens of eternity. It eventually overflowed into Heart In Heaven, where compassion became tangible action among people facing material and spiritual poverty. And it gave language to Seismic Generosity — a vision of open-handed living born not primarily from obligation, but from beholding the mercy of a lavishly generous God.
Different expressions. One current. We behold Him. We discover ourselves held by Him. And increasingly, we desire to hold nothing back from Him. That is what it means, here, to live wholly.
Why this house exists
God Is the Center. Everything Else Belongs Around Him.
Behold & Be Held exists because I believe disciples of Christ need spaces that help us slow down long enough to remember what is most true. God is God. He is infinitely worthy of our attention. His character does not shift with our circumstances. His presence is not measured by our ability to perceive it. His goodness is not suspended when His purposes remain hidden. And our brief lives become most beautiful when they increasingly orbit around Him.
So this house will hold resources for knowing God, trusting Him, remembering eternity, navigating discouragement, cultivating generosity, loving our neighbors, and living with greater spiritual intentionality. There will be books. Reflections. Devotionals. Conversations. Resources for weary hearts. Invitations into deeper generosity. And, Lord willing, new things still waiting somewhere beyond the rooms we can presently see.
But none of those things is the center. God is. Everything else belongs around Him.
Shared pilgrimage
I Am Still Learning Too
Perhaps this matters most. I am not inviting you into this house because I have arrived. I am inviting you because I am walking this road too.
I still need Scripture to correct my vision. I still need reminders when circumstances become loud. I still need grace when my heart reaches for lesser things. I still need the Spirit of God to loosen my grip, deepen my trust, enlarge my compassion, and turn my eyes again toward Christ.
So this is a place of shared pilgrimage—of learning, beholding, trusting, and becoming together. Come with your questions. Come with your weariness. Come with the places where truth has reached your mind but is still traveling toward your heart. Come hungry to know the God who cannot be exhausted by our knowing.
And together, by His grace, we will keep looking.
Welcome home
My Hope for You Here
My hope is not simply that something here will inspire you. I hope something here helps you see Him. That His holiness leaves you awed. His sovereignty steadies you. His wisdom quiets the demand to understand everything. His goodness becomes ballast beneath you. His faithfulness teaches your heart where to rest. His mercy enlarges your compassion. His generosity opens your hands. His worth reorders your life.
And somewhere along the way, perhaps almost imperceptibly at first, you discover that while you have been learning to behold Him — you have been held all along.
So come in. Stay awhile. Bring your whole heart. There is room here for reverence and wonder. For trembling and trust. For questions and quiet. For conviction and compassion. For worship that eventually grows feet.
Come behold Him. Discover that you are held. And let the heart return to what it was made for: Adoring Him.
