Behold & Be Held

Trustworthy

What holds when everything else begins to shake?

When the ground is shaking and shifting, what we want more than anything else is to be held.

We look for something sturdy enough to carry the weight of our questions, fears, disappointments, hopes, losses, and unfinished stories. And eventually, everything created reveals its limits.

Our health can change. People can fail us. Plans can unravel. Resources can disappear. Answers can remain hidden. Even our own strength can give way.

But when everything else proves unable to hold the full weight of a human life, God Himself does.

Trustworthy is an invitation to know Him more deeply—not merely to believe that God is trustworthy in theory, but to increasingly entrust the weight of your actual life to the God who has revealed Himself to be holy, sovereign, wise, good, and faithful.

The deeper question

The Question Beneath So Many Questions

Sometimes the deepest question beneath What is God doing? is:

Who is God here?

Who is He when the prayer remains unanswered? Who is He when the road takes an unexpected turn? Who is He when what we see seems difficult to reconcile with what we believe? Who is He when our feelings tell one story while Scripture tells another?

The Christian life eventually brings us to places where explanations alone cannot hold us. We need God Himself.

Because trust does not grow primarily from knowing what God will do next. It grows from knowing who God is.

Five realities

Behold the God Who Holds You

  • He is Holy. There is no shadow in Him, no corruption in His motives, no fracture between who He is and what He does.
  • He is Sovereign. Nothing escapes His rule, surprises His wisdom, or places His purposes beyond His reach.
  • He is Wise. He sees what we cannot see and understands every thread of the story at once.
  • He is Good. His goodness is not suspended when circumstances are painful or His purposes are hidden.
  • He is Faithful. He does not become someone else in the middle of our uncertainty. He remains eternally, unwaveringly Himself.

These are not merely truths to affirm. They are realities upon which a life can rest.

God does not merely possess a trustworthy record. He is trustworthy in His very being.

The sacred distance

The Distance Between Belief and Rest

We can sincerely believe something about God and still struggle to live as though it is true. The mind may arrive at truth quickly. The heart often needs the miles.

Those miles may pass through waiting, uncertainty, grief, correction, provision, silence, surrender, obedience, remembrance, and the slow work of the Spirit.

This does not make our faith false. It makes us human disciples learning to place more and more of our weight upon what is eternally true of God.

Trustworthy explores that sacred distance—the space between knowing a truth intellectually and discovering that it has begun to settle into the bones.

Something begins to change

When Truth Gains Weight

Over time, something begins to change. Fear may still speak, but it no longer has to govern. Circumstances may still hurt, but they no longer possess the final word about God. The demand to understand everything before resting begins to loosen. Control releases its grip. Self-reliance loses some of its authority. And what we know of God begins to carry greater governing weight in the heart.

Not perfectly. Not instantly. But truly.

Trust does not necessarily become effortless. It becomes more instinctive. The soul learns where its weight can rest.

Honest faith

Grounded Trust Has Room for Trembling

Grounded trust can coexist with tears. With questions. With lament. With trembling. With the honest confession, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.”

Trustworthy does not ask the disciple to manufacture certainty or hide what hurts. It keeps returning the heart to the One whose character remains steady beneath it all.

The goal is not confidence in our ability to trust God well. The goal is God Himself.

Because ultimately, the strength of our faith is not found in the steadiness of our grip. It is found in the steadfastness of the One who holds us. Even when our grip weakens, He does not.

Born from the miles

A Book Born From the Miles

Trustworthy book cover: How God Closes the Gap Between What We Believe and How We Live, by Angelique Cooper McGlotten

Trustworthy emerged from years of Scripture, suffering, worship, waiting, stewardship, prayer, surrender, and lived discipleship. It grew in places where truths long believed had to become truths actually leaned upon.

Its pages are for the disciple who loves God yet sometimes struggles to reconcile what is happening with what is known to be true of Him. For the one who wants something deeper than borrowed certainty. For the weary heart learning to rest. For the believer discovering that faith is not pretending the ground never shakes. It is learning where to stand when it does.
